Apa kabar semua,  saya yakin semua dalam keadaan sehat selalu. Pada materi dasar I, telah dijelaskan  tentang pemakaian  article  a, an dan juga the. Akan tetapi kelihatannya masih banyak yang bingung tentang pemakaian ‘the’. Di bawah ini ada penjelasan yang saya yakin bisa mengurangi kebingungan kalian dalam menggunakan article ‘the’.

Ocean, rivers, seas, gulfs, plural lakes Example: the Red Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, the Persian Gulf, the Great Lake Mountains: The Rocky Mountains, the Andes Earth, moon the earth, the moon schools, colleges, universities when the phrase begins with school, etc: example; the university of Florida,, the College of Arts and Sciences ordinal numbers before nouns example; the first world war, the third chapter wars (except world wars) example: the Crimean War,  the Korean War countries with more the one words example: the United States, the Central African Republic

Singular lakes: example; Lake Geneva, Lake Eric Mounts: Mount Vesuvius, Mount McKinley Planets, constellations Example: Venus, Mars Schools, colleges, universities when the phrase begins with proper noun Example; Stetson University, Cooper’s Art School Cardinal number after nouns Example: chapter three, World War One Countries with one word China, France, Indonesia Continents Example: Europe, Africa, South America States Example: Florida, Ohio, California Sports Example: baseball, basketball General areas of subject matter Example: sociology, mathematics Holidays Example: Thanksgiving, Idul Fitri, Idul Adha
